Jelly Jar Scents Being Discontinued

Before I make the final decision to discontinue the Jelly Jar Scents - I will ask the public what they would like first. See the POLL

With the combination of slower sales and the increase cost of materials (which I have noted before) and needing to increase the price over time, they have become more costly than is worth my time and effort to put them together.

I am sorry to those of you who really enjoy the Jelly Jar Scents and thank you to those of you that have purchased them over the past couple of years as I hope you enjoyed them!

~IF Looks Don't Matter Soap Sale~

Occasionally some of the soaps may have a slightly crystallized outer surface due to sweating, which is usually caused by a combination of humid and or changing weather conditions as well as the high glycerin content. There is nothing wrong with the soap and the only draw back is it's appearance.
At this time I have reduced several scented soaps for this very reason. So, if looks really don't matter or if a slightly less than perfect soap doesn't turn you away, then you may want to grab these lower priced items.

Holiday Scents - Price Increases & Reductions

Two new scents and soaps were recently added to be available year round and for the upcoming holiday: Soap Suds and Midnight Pomegranate. I also have the Gingerbread Man Goats Milk Soap and Southern Pumpkin Pie. The last "holiday" type soap I will be making, in very small quantities, will be Mistletoe. I realize this was not on my poll but because of the great downturn in the economy, I will not be adding any other holiday/Christmas type scents as everyone is hurting and watching what they spend so I too must be cautious with adding way too many choices to my lineup of soaps at this time.

I have had to increase the price slightly on my soaps and the Jelly Jar Scents as the cost of ingredients and materials are always on the rise, but I have also reduced the initial price of the 8 oz Goats Milk Lotion, Sugar Scrubs and Dead Sea Salts, as well as placed several soaps on sale or clearance.

Over the course of the next few months I plan to discontinue some more items and scents that don't appear to be very popular anymore. This will allow me to keep streamlining my products and continue to offer a variety that hopefully everyone can enjoy :-)

I will be offering a small sampling of Castile (Olive Oil) Soaps for those of you that either want a vegan soap or just would like to try Olive Oil vs. Goats Milk.

Shop is Re-Open

Although I have re-opened my store - please understand that I will probably not be moving at full throttle for some time - so orders may take longer than the usual "lightening speed". This is all very very difficult for me right now.

Shop Temporarily Closed

Although this is very personal and is probably something I would not share here, it is the reason why I have temporarily closed my shop. If the reason is not important to you, then you don't need to continue reading and if you don't understand the need to mourn a beloved member of the family then at least understand that others do. (sorry if this comes across angry and bitter, but I am running the gammit of emotions right now and I realize many people just don't understand or "get" the grief over a pet - which cuts just as deep as any other loved one and I have experienced both.)

One of our beloved cats passed away early this morning. And for those of you that have pets that you love dearly, you will understand the pain I am going through at this time. And to top it off, it is 3 days after the 4 year anniversary of my previous cats death, Chester, who lived 16 years.

She was an undernourished and obviously cold cat that wandered into our garage for a warm place to sleep last October. We already have two cats whom we adore and although I have enough love in my heart for more kitties I felt two was enough for the amount of space we have and everything else that goes along with caring for a pet.

Not being able to turn away from this poor cat, we fed her and of course she made the garage her home. We gave her a bed and a spot for food and water. She got healthy and I think our initial intention was to bring her to a pound or somehow find her a home, but worried that if a home was not found she would be Euthanized. We kept her and grew to absolutely love her and figured someone must have abandoned this sweet thing. She had lots of affection and even more energy and I hope she knows how much we love her and cannot believe she is gone. Oh, and after calling her "kitty" for many months I decided on the name Daisy - which she always knew when we called her.

This is probably way over the top to write on this blog and I will apologize for that. But for now, this is for Daisy and I hope you know how much I love you and miss you terribly!! I am so sorry you were taken from this life and our lives way too soon as I thought you would be part of our future, which will never be the same!

~Remembering September 11th~

It is now seven years since the terrorist attacks on the United States where thousands of innocent lives were lost and the lives of their loved ones left behind would never again be the same.

I had actually known, many years ago, one of the firefighters that perished that day while re-entering one of the towers in an attempt to save lives. His name was Capt. William F. Burke

~Labor Day ~

Once again, I cannot believe that August is over and fall will soon be upon us! Where did the summer go? Well, you can pretend with some "summery" soaps and scents from my shop - All available in a lotion, bath gel, 3-in-1 spray or sugar scrub as well:

-Sun and Sand Goats Milk Soap
-Summer Strawberries
-Pink Lemonade
-Tropical Coconut

Enjoy your Labor Day!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The First Labor Day

The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, in accordance with the plans of the Central Labor Union. The Central Labor Union held its second Labor Day holiday just a year later, on September 5, 1883.

In 1884 the first Monday in September was selected as the holiday, as originally proposed, and the Central Labor Union urged similar organizations in other cities to follow the example of New York and celebrate a "workingmen's holiday" on that date. The idea spread with the growth of labor organizations, and in 1885 Labor Day was celebrated in many industrial centers of the country.

Labor Day Legislation

Through the years the nation gave increasing emphasis to Labor Day. The first governmental recognition came through municipal ordinances passed during 1885 and 1886. From them developed the movement to secure state legislation. The first state bill was introduced into the New York legislature, but the first to become law was passed by Oregon on February 21, 1887. During the year four more states — Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York — created the Labor Day holiday by legislative enactment. By the end of the decade Connecticut, Nebraska, and Pennsylvania had followed suit. By 1894, 23 other states had adopted the holiday in honor of workers, and on June 28 of that year, Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday in the District of Columbia and the territories.

~3 Lip Balm Flavors Further Reduced~

In an effort to clear out inventory of the lip balms, I have further reduced the price of the following lip balms: Mango Lime, Pina Colada and Strawberry. These are now only $1.99! Great flavors - moisturizing for your lips - so grab some now!

Monday, August 25, 2008

~Lotion Sale~

Since this latest batch of goats milk lotion is now thinner than usual - basically pourable - I have reduced the price temporarily.

If you want to take advantage of the price and don't mind pouring your lotion out of a jar :-) - then grab one or some now!

~Amber Romance Sample~

Just added in the 1 oz size Body/Linen/Room Sprays - Amber Romance.

A Victoria Secret type fragrance which is a most haunting & seductive blend of romantic amber and warmed by exotic Sandalwood. This is only the beginning, then it is blended with sensual musk undertones, deepened with a spritz of Black Cherry as well as nuances of vanilla which bring this fragrance to new heights.

If you love Egyptian Dragon, you may enjoy this as well. It is definitely a softer blend of aromas.

If I offer this in other products, at a later date, then the name may metamorphose into something else.

Creamy Coconut Gets a New Name

Since the Creamy Coconut scent seemed better suited for a more accurate namesake, it has been recently changed to Tropical Coconut. Same great coconut fragrance, but hopefully a more enticing name!

~Coming Soon~

Candy Corn goats milk soap will be coming back shortly!

White Tea and Sugared Ginger Sample

I recently added White Tea and Sugared Ginger to the list of choices on my 1 oz size of the 3-in-1 Body/Linen/Room Sprays.

The scent is identical to Bath and Body Works classic of a similar name. Clean and refreshing white tea mingled with several citrus notes and ending with the sweetness of ginger.

And The Winner Is............

Pink Lemonade! This soap choice had the most votes, so it will now be the next new summer soap! I wish I was able to make ALL of the choices, but hopefully everyone that shops at WendyLou's Natural Bath will give Pink Lemonade Goats Milk Soap a try!

Thanks for all your votes!

Sun and Sand Sale

I have just placed my Sun and Sand Conch Shell Soap on sale. So, for those of you that have never tried this soap, you have no idea what you're missing! (Ok, maybe I'm a bit partial to this scent since I think it's fantastic! :-))

Each bar is about 3.5 oz each and is plenty big enough for everyday use (yes, even YOU can use this pretty little shell soap everyday!)

So, come on by and pick up a few bars!

~Liquid Bath Soap Price Reduction~

I have just reduced the price of the 3-in-1 Paraben and Sulfate Free Liquid Bath Soap.

The initial cost of the ingredients in this product are expensive; most especially these coconut based ingredients: Sodium Cocopolyglucoside Tartrate and Sodium Cocopolyglucoside Citrate, which have recently skyrocketed - so that means the selling price would become beyond what some of you may be willing to pay at this time. I want to try to make these bath gels as affordable as possible, even if it means I make less of a profit.

If I decide to keep this line, the product will then be reformulated. This will still have a fabulous lather and all the other conditioning benefits.

Thursday, July 3, 2008

~Summer Soap~

I was considering bringing in one new soap just for the remainder of the summer - in limited quantities. As things are slowing down and the weather is warming up, it may be nice to offer something refreshing during this time of the year.

Ideas so far:

French Peach - (This was voted on months ago)
*Iced Tea Twist - Blend of Lemon, Orange, Tea Leaves, Sugar (B&BW Type)
Pink Lemonade - Blend of Lemon, Orange, Grapefruit
Raspberry Lemonade - Blend of Raspberry, Lemon, Sugar and Vanilla (B&BW Type)

So, which of these might you want me to add for the summer?

I will be closing this poll by the end of this week so if there is not enough interest, then none of these will be made at this time.

Honoring Those Who Served

Please take some time this Memorial Day Weekend to remember the men and woman who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and the freedoms we many times may take for granted.
USA Flag: 13 equal horizontal stripes of red (top and bottom) alternating with white; there is a blue rectangle in the upper hoist-side corner bearing 50 small, white, five-pointed stars arranged in nine offset horizontal rows of six stars (top and bottom) alternating with rows of five stars; the 50 stars represent the 50 states, the 13 stripes represent the 13 original colonies; known as Old Glory; the design and colors have been the basis for a number of other flags, including Chile, Liberia, Malaysia, and Puerto Rico.

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend!

His and Hers Shave Bars

I have decided to add two shave bars. One will be for him and one will be for her.

The mens shave bar will be scented in Bay Rum and the womans shave bar will be scented in Beneath The Stars. I have debated about Amazing Grace or BTS and for now I am going with the latter. The scents will not be mentioned on the label, just in the descriptions. We'll see how they do and then decide if they will continue to be sold down the road. The mens bar will most likely be a green tone and the womans will be left uncolored.

If you have any questions or comments - please feel free to leave a comment on this blog.

Dead Sea Salts

One thing I just came across recently was the popularity of Dead Sea Salts. They are loaded with minerals and are supposed to be helpful with relaxing and soothing your muscles and relieving tension. They are to be placed in a tub of warm water where you would soak for 15 to 20 minutes. They can be straight salts (no scent) or have added essential oils.

Do you currently use these salts or would you have any interest? I would think of offering them in 16 oz jars unscented, Muscle Rescue and Sleep Time.

Summer Strawberries - Shave Bar - Toner

If you haven't already checked, Summer Strawberries Goats Milk Soap is now available and the next in line will be Sun and Sand.

Shave Bar: I have not made a final decision as to whether or not I will make a shave bar. If I do, it will now probably be made with the regular goats milk soap (not mango and goats) and obviously I won't be able to please everyone with the scent I choose!

Organic Toner - There are only a few more days that this toner will be on sale, so if you want to take advantage of the price, please remember you only have until April 30th!

Egyptian Dragon

I hope to have Egyptian Dragon Goats Milk Soap up for sale sometime tomorrow. So, if something a bit exotic and earthy fancies your taste....stay tuned!

Chamomile and Lavender will be in the works after that.

Down the road: Summer Strawberries will be coming back as well as Sun and Sand Conch Shell Soap - yay! <--love that scent!

New Soap - Retiring Soaps - Sale Items

Mardi Gras is finally here

Original Oatmeal Goats Milk Soap is being retired. This soap is unscented, gives a luscious lather and is lightly exfoliating. It can help relieve dry cracked skin as well as acne prone skin. It's now on sale.

More to be retired:
-Downy Fresh
- this is definite as I can no longer get this fragrance.
-Floralissima - this will still be available to scent several other products, but once the rest of the soaps sell, I will no longer carry this sorry.
-Sweet Pea/Pure Rain/Freesia - I am considering retiring these.
Most, if not all, of these scents will still be available as a scent in my other products - so that doesn't mean you will no longer be able to enjoy their fragrances, just not in soap.

All Beeswax lip balms are currently on sale - Country Apple Soap and several other items found listed in the Clearance Section.

New Soaps Coming Soon

Just in case you were wondering, the next soap I will have available for purchase will be Mardi Gras. I can't imagine anyone not loving this one - unless you hate fruit scents! So, keep a lookout for this one.

I did say Egyptian Dragon was arriving in March, but I may delay that one a bit. That's up in the air right now, but I DO plan on making it! Of course you can get many of my other products scented with this exotic fragrance, so at least the "scent" is available.

April - I will be bringing back Chamomile and Lavender soap again - BUT - there's a new twist. It will now have a blend of both Chamomile and Lavender essentials oils as well as Lavender Butter :-) and of course, some of the dried herbs. Both oils help to offer calming, healing, anti-inflammatory and soothing benefits and the lavender butter, which has sweet almond oil, can help to moisturize dry skin, alleviate itching, and relieve oily skin patches.

March-ing Forward!

Well, I may have missed the mark for Mardi Gras, to bring in this new scent, but at least it will arrive before St. Patricks Day!

Yes, the first new scent arriving in March will be Mardi Gras! I already offer samples of this in the 3-in-1 Sprays, but now I will be making this into a soap and offer it as a lotion scent as well. I just thought this one was too good to pass up. The second newest scent offered in March will be Egyptian Dragon. I felt a more exotic, earthy and mysterious type fragrance was needed to help round out my scent collection.

If you are curious about the descriptions - please visit the fragrance description page.

2 New Items - One Available Today!

Sorry, I haven't written on my blog in awhile but I wanted to let you know that Very Sexy for men (soap) will most likely be up for sale sometime today. I was pleasantly surprised at first whiff as this is not heavy at all - it's clean, but definitely masculine. I can really see why this is a popular fragrance.

The second newest item I will be offering very soon is the 1 oz size version of my 3-in-1 Spray. This can be considered either a sample or travel size of the original size body/linen/room spray. Perfect for trying out a new scent or maybe you just need something smaller to carry with you.

Not For Men Only

Since several of my customers really seemed to love my Rainforest soap, I am now bringing it back. For those of you that never had a chance to try it you will now have that opportunity.

It does have a definitive pine and fur tree scent to it, so it can appeal to both women and men, but *I* think there is also something manly and rugged about it as well.So this is another added to the "Not for men only" list of soaps :-)

Beauty Tips Using Household Vinegar

Vinegar is a wonderful and inexpensive addition to your beauty regimen. Vinegar can help restore the natural acidity of your skin, which may clear up skin problems such as dryness, itching, flaking, and acne.

Age Spots: Vinegar mixed with onion juice may help reduce the appearance of age spots. Mix equal parts onion juice and vinegar, and dab onto the age spots. After several weeks of this daily routine, the spots should lighten.

Itchy Skin: To relieve itchy skin and/or aching muscles, add 8 ounces apple cider vinegar to a bathtub of warm water. Soak in the tub for at least 15 minutes.

Put on a Happy Face

Vinegar can be a useful addition to your skincare routine for your face.

Aftershave: Apple cider vinegar is a great aftershave for men that will help keep their skin soft and young looking. Keep a small bottle of it in the medicine cabinet, and splash on face after shaving.

Cleansers and Toners: Use a mixture of half vinegar, half water to clean your face. Then rinse with vinegar diluted with water, and let your face air dry to seal in the moisture.

Problem skin: Oily skin can be controlled with a mixture of half apple cider vinegar and half cool water. The mixture works as an astringent. You can also freeze this solution into ice cubes and use it as a cooling facial treatment on a hot summer day.

Make a paste of honey, wheat flour, and vinegar, then use it to lightly cover a new outbreak of pimples. Keep the paste on overnight, and rinse it off in the morning. This should accelerate the healing process.

Help Your Hands

People judge us by how our hands look. Vinegar can make a difference.

Chapped Skin: Mix equal parts vinegar and hand cream to help chapped hands.

Nail Polish: Make your nail polish last longer on your fingers by soaking fingertips for 1 minute in 2 teaspoons vinegar and 1/2 cup warm water before applying the polish.

Scrub: Clean very dirty hands by scrubbing with cornmeal that has been moistened with a little bit of apple cider vinegar. Rinse in cool water, then dry.

Healthy Hair

Yes, vinegar can make your hair cleaner and shinier.

Conditioning: Vinegar is a great hair conditioner and can improve cleanliness and shine. For simple conditioning, just add 1 tablespoon vinegar to your hair as you rinse it. This can be used right after shampooing with my Rosemary & Jojoba Shampoo and Body Bar.

Dandruff: Massage full-strength vinegar into your scalp several times a week before shampooing. This can help create healthy hair and control dandruff.

New Lotion Size

I just added a 4 oz lotion jar to my goats milk lotion collection. For those of you that want to try this lotion for the first time, but don't want the spend as much for the 8 oz size, this is perfect. Maybe you just would like to sample a new scent, but are unsure if you'll love it enough to finish a larger size. Either way, there are now two size choices for your convenience.

New Year - New Scents - New Products

Once most of the holiday items have been cleared out I will be bringing in some more new scents and products.
  • Mango Butter & Goats Milk Shave Bar - unscented and possibly in Bay Rum
  • Beneath The Stars Goats Milk Soap ( a blend of Grape, Peach, Citrus, Plum, Rose and Musk) - and available in all my other scented products
  • French Vanilla - I will put up a vote again just for this one to see if there is still interest in this as a soap
